Everyone makes choices in life. We think about and make choices to live our lives a certain way and how we might positively impact our own corners of the world. The Milton-Union school-community, along with so many others influenced by her example, are mourning the loss of Amy Bobbitt who passed away on September 4, 2024.
One of the ways in which Amy impacted the Milton-Union Schools and influenced countless children was through her work as an instructional aide. She had a gift for talking to young people of all ages that encouraged practical thought and good decision-making for children needing an advocate most. She respected children, and anyone could see how much young people, in turn, respected her.
However, Amy’s deep commitment to foster children and adoption is how her legacy continues. Her choice to foster over 100 children and adopt 14 demonstrates for all of us the difference that enduring love can have in the lives of young people. She used her work ethic, skill, talent, and deep commitment to positively impact every aspect of her environment, and in doing so, she was a difference-maker in the lives of many.
Amy was deeply spiritual and found strength in her faith. She was extremely thankful for her kids and considered them blessings. For all of us, Amy was the blessing. We are all more fortunate to have witnessed such a remarkable example of someone who selflessly lived her life for others and had such extraordinary love for young people.
Multiple staff members and students wish to pay their respects and demonstrate support for Amy and the Bobbitt family. To accommodate this, the Milton-Union EVSD will be closed on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, for the visitation and funeral.
