Snow Covered Road and Trees

Monday, February 8, 2021

Dear Parents, Caregivers, and Families:

The next day school closes for weather and/or road conditions will be the FIFTH snow day.  If poor weather continues, students will complete assignments remotely with the SIXTH snow day.  District messaging will communicate what is expected of students.  Please read on for more details...

Winter weather seems to be sticking around for the short-term future.  The forecast for the next several days could be interesting, so the district is making plans to provide instruction and continue student learning if school must close (for multiple days) due to road conditions, subzero temperatures, or unforeseen circumstances.

Beginning with our SIXTH snow day and to prevent rescheduling days, students will attend classes, interact with teachers, and/or complete assignments remotely.  Below are typical scenarios for closing school with the district’s remote schedule for the day.  (Keep in mind, when school is canceled or delayed, the district tries to make the decision and communicate with parents and families formally by 5:30am.)

  • Closed (full day) – Whether the decision is made the night before or early in the morning, students will interact with teachers and complete assignments remotely.  Teachers and students will follow the regular bell schedule.
    • Students completing work remotely on SchoolsPLP will continue to do so.
    • Elementary students participating in remote instruction will follow schedules established by their grade-level teachers but should be prepared to check-in by 8:55am using Microsoft Teams and/or Seesaw.
    • Below is the middle and high school bell schedule.
    • The district will count this as a day of attendance for students checking-in with teachers and completing work remotely.

    • Students completing work remotely on SchoolsPLP have the same expectations for attendance and lesson completion.
    • Elementary students participating in remote instruction will follow the two-hour delay schedules established by their grade-level teachers.  Students should be prepared to check-in with their teachers using Microsoft Teams and/or Seesaw by 10:55am.
