Spring Break Vocabulary Game
Try this simple word game during your Spring Break- If you go to the park, the store, or anywhere with your child, take turns coming up with single words that relate to where you went. At first, it will be easy (park>swings>grass>ball>etc.), but as you and your child try to think of more and more related words, you might need to challenge a word and require an explanation, which helps to build conversation skills. The last person to come up with a related word, wins! This simple game will build vocabulary and build important mental connections, supporting reading comprehension (see the last Literacy Minute for more on "mental velcro").
Have a great Spring Break!
